● OWASP MASVS v2.1.0 SELF-ASSESSMENT

Security & Privacy Assurance

Vizillo AI safeguards exceptionally sensitive device capabilities. We believe security and trust are earned through radical transparency and disciplined engineering verification.

Standard of Assessment: OWASP MASVS L1 (MAS-L1 Profile) + MAS-P

The Vizillo AI Android app (com.verifyscams.app) has been rigorously self-assessed against OWASP MASVS L1 (MAS-L1 profile) and MAS-P baseline privacy using the OWASP Mobile Application Security Testing Guide (MASTG v2.0.0). In alignment with OWASP guidelines, this represents an exhaustive internal engineering self-audit and remediation pass, not an independent third-party certification.

OWASP MASVS Category Breakdown

MASVS-STORAGE (Data Storage & Privacy)
9 Pass / 2 Open (L2) · 81.8%

Automated backups disabled (allowBackup="false") with explicit XML exclusions. Window FLAG_SECUREapplied to block screenshots & recent-app switcher previews during PIN entry. Release logging stripped via ProGuard. Zero sensitive files in external shared storage.

MASVS-CRYPTO (Cryptography)
3 Pass / 2 Open (L2) / 1 N/A · 60.0%

Modern SHA-256 threat verification. AppLock master PIN protected with a 16-byte SecureRandom salt per device with automatic legacy migration. Zero hardcoded credentials in source or committed files.

MASVS-AUTH (Authentication & Access)
8 Pass / 1 Open (L2) / 1 N/A · 88.9%

Industry-standard Supabase OAuth/JWT over TLS 1.3 with server-side token revocation on logout. PostgreSQL Row-Level Security (RLS) guarantees user isolation. Official AndroidX BiometricPrompt with strong biometric enforcement and mandatory PIN re-prompting.

MASVS-NETWORK (Network Security)
4 Pass / 1 Open (L2) · 80.0%

Cleartext HTTP completely disabled at the operating system level (cleartextTrafficPermitted="false" in network_security_config.xml). TLS verified against the Android system trust store with no trust-all bypasses. Certificate pinning actively enforced on malware intelligence feed (mb-api.abuse.ch).

MASVS-PLATFORM (Platform Interaction)
10 Pass / 0 Fail · 100.0%

Background services unexported (exported="false"). All PendingIntent flags set to FLAG_IMMUTABLE. WebViews hardened with file access disabled (allowFileAccess = false) and restricted to trusted HTTPS domains. Notifications set to VISIBILITY_PRIVATE to protect lock-screen privacy.

MASVS-CODE (Code Quality & Hygiene)
7 Pass / 0 Fail · 100.0%

Targeting Android 15+ / 16 preview (targetSdk = 36, minSdk = 29). Release builds minified and shrunk with R8. Google Play In-App Updates and forced kill-switch update flows active. Inbound scan payloads sanitized against injection.

MASVS-PRIVACY (Baseline Privacy)
8 Pass / 0 Fail · 100.0%

Zero Google Advertising ID (AD_ID node stripped). Dangerous permissions preceded by explicit in-app rationale prompts. SMS and Call Log permissions completely eliminated. Direct self-service data deletion flow available in-app and online.

Remediations Executed for v2.4.3

Following our MASVS L1 baseline audit, the engineering team executed and verified 10 direct security remediations in the Android codebase:

✓ Cleartext HTTP Disabled
android:usesCleartextTraffic set to false; networkSecurityConfig attached.
✓ Backup Rules Hardened
android:allowBackup set to false; shared preferences and databases excluded.
✓ Salted PIN Hashing
SecureRandom 16-byte salt added to SHA-256 PIN generation with auto-migration.
✓ FLAG_SECURE on Sensitive Views
Blocked screenshotting and recent-task previews in AppLockActivity.
✓ Release Log Stripping
ProGuard rules added to strip Log.d, Log.v, and Log.i in production builds.
✓ HttpLoggingInterceptor Gated
Guarded network header logging strictly behind BuildConfig.DEBUG.
✓ WebView File Access Disabled
Disabled allowFileAccess and allowContentAccess in popup browser views.
✓ WebView HTTPS Allowlisting
Restricted in-app web views to trusted domains; foreign links open externally.
✓ Lock Screen Privacy Enforced
VISIBILITY_PRIVATE applied to security alert channels and notification builders.
✓ Actionable Deletion Flow
Integrated direct web portal link and pre-filled email intent for account deletion.

Forward Roadmap: Target MAS-L2 (Advanced Security)

While MAS-L1 establishes the essential security baseline, Vizillo AI is advancing toward the MAS-L2 (Advanced Security) profile to protect against sophisticated client-side threats and rooted device environments:

  • Hardware KeyStore Database Encryption: Encrypt local Room databases with SQLCipher utilizing an AES-256 key kept in the Android KeyStore.
  • CryptoObject Biometric Authentication: Bind BiometricPrompt directly to a hardware KeyStore cipher rather than callback-only gating.
  • Jetpack EncryptedSharedPreferences: Migrate remaining sandbox preferences to hardware-backed EncryptedSharedPreferences.
  • First-Party Certificate Pinning: Configure OkHttp CertificatePinner pins for vizillo.com and *.supabase.co (currently enforced on mb-api.abuse.ch).
